Berlin for the first time - an overview

If you are in the city for the first time you could visit the most important and significant old and new sights:

From the Brandenburg Gate straight down the Boulevard Under the Linden to the historical city center: Forum Fridericianum, the Museum Island, the Palace square, the Nicolai- and Franciscan monastery quarter, the Alexanderplatz.

In the other direction of the Brandenburg Gate we move out of the original old city to the new governmental area, West-Berlin city center around the Zoo, the Memorial Church and Kurfürstendamm, named by the Berliners "Kudamm".

Right in the midst is the new Potsdamer Platz area, nearby a piece of the Wall and the famous former checkpoint between East and West, "Checkpoint Charlie" where you will also find the Wall Museum and an open-air photo-exhibition.
